Company History

In 2002 Anointment was born on principles of natural living and environmental responsibility in a basement workshop in Halifax.

Until 2008 Anointment was a popular vendor at the Halifax Brewery Farmers’ Market where Om Shanti soap (link to om shanti soap on website), an earthy blend of cinnamon, patchouli, cocoa and coffee, became our best-selling product.

After finding a new home with owner April MacKinnon in a natural parenting store she owned, Anointment began a five-year rebranding project after moving to Sackville, New Brunswick, a small town on the windswept Tantramar Marshes in 2011, where we continue to make everything by hand.

Anointment is best-known for our award-winning (link to awards and media page) pregnancy, postpartum, and new baby products. In today’s world, we are working hard to build careers and raise families, often at the expense of our own self care. With every product formulation, we consider the intention of support that it can provide is considered in addition to looking at the functional value of every single ingredient.

“The word Anointment is an understanding of being with people in their vulnerability.” – Lindsay, Production Manager

Our vision simply states that we wish to create a culture of wellness among our customers and employees.

Anointment products are available through retailers across Canada.
